Nagasaki Lantern Festival 2015

Today (February 19, 2015) is the first day of this year’s Lantern Festival in Nagasaki!

This popular event runs from February 19 – March 5th this year (2015) and will draw crowds of over a million people from all over the world who will come to Nagasaki to see this famous festival.

The Nagasaki Lantern Festival is held by the local Chinese people living in Nagasaki to celebrate the Chinese New Year.

Over 15,000 colorful lanterns are lit in famous places such as Chinatown and Chuo Park. 

Types of lanterns include zodiac animals and Chinese historical figures.
