こんにちは〜\(◕ω◕)/♥

Have you heard of こどもの日(Kodomo no hi) and  golden week? Golden Week, written ゴールデンウィーク (goruden wi-ku) or GW for short, is the longest vacation period of the year for many jobs.

It is actually just a week where there are many national holidays in a row.

Golden Week Holidays:

April 29: Showa Day (昭和の日 Shōwa no hi)

May 3: Constitution Memorial Day (憲法記念日 Kenpō kinenbi)

May 4: Greenery Day (みどりの日 Midori no hi)

May 5: Children’s Day (こどもの日 Kodomo no hi)

こどもの日(Kodomo no hi)is also called 端午の節句(tango no sekku)!

This year (2017), April 29 falls on a Saturday, making one normal 2-day weekend and one 5-day weekend with two normal working days in between (Monday and Tuesday)

こどもの日 (Kodomo no hi – Children’s Day)

Children’s Day is celebrated every year on May 5th in Japan. This holiday was created in 1948 to respect children’s personalities and celebrate their happiness.

On Children’s Day, families raise carp-shaped 鯉のぼり (koinobori) flags, traditionally with one carp for the father, one carp for the mother, and one carp for each child. Towns often have displays of giant 鯉のぼり (koinobori) flags as well, sometimes over rivers.
