How do you say ‘England’, ‘Great Britain’, ‘The U.K.’, and ‘The British Isles’?
I know you said that England and U.K. are イギリス, but how do you tell when someone is talking about England and when someone is talking about The U.K. if they’re both the same word?

イングランド (ingurando) – England
グレートブリテン及び北アイルランド連合王国 (gurēto buriten oyobi kita airurando rengo ōkoku) – United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland
グレートブリテン島 (gurētoburiten tō – literally “Great Britain Island”) – Great Britain
ブリテン諸島 (buriten shotō) – British Isles
It’s pretty confusing which is why most Japanese people just use イギリス for everything. (>ω<); Hope that helps!
