 Today we will learn some Japanese vocabulary that is useful for driving in Japan.

shingou

 Traffic signal in Japanese is 信号 (shingou)

 Running a red light/stop sign in Japanese is called 信号無視 (shingou mushi).

 無視する (mushi suru) means to ignore

kousaten

 Intersection/Crossing in Japanese is 交差点 (kousaten)

tomare

 Stop in Japanese is 止まれ (tomare)

 The verb 止まる (tomaru) means to stop.

ichiji teishi

 A complete stop in Japanese is 一時停止 (ichiji teishi)

 Be careful to make a complete stop at designated areas!

seatbelt

 Seatbelt in Japanese is シートベルト (shiito beruto)

tires

 Tire(s) in Japanese is タイヤ (taiya)

puncture

 Flat tire (puncture) in Japanese is パンク (panku)

license plate

 License plate/number plate in Japanese is ナンバープレート (nanbaa pureeto)

rent-a-car

 Rent-a-Car/Rental Car in Japanese is レンタカー (rentakaa)

patrol car

 Patrol Car in Japanese is パトカー (patokaa)
