There are many ways to count things in Japanese depending on the type of object being counted! Today we will learn how to count rabbits and birds in Japanese!

Today’s Counter is: 羽

 We already learned how to count small animals and large animals in Japanese. However, rabbits and birds have a special counter that is different from either of these!

 Today we will learn how to use the Japanese counter 羽 (わ – wa) to count birds and rabbits!

 The Japanese word for one (bird or rabbit) is 一羽 (いちわ – ichiwa).

 The Japanese word for two (birds or rabbits) is 二羽 (にわ – niwa).

 The Japanese word for three (birds or rabbits) is 三羽 (さんわ – sanwa).
